There's always been a light shoes vs no-shoes debate in Capoeira about what's better to play in.  Here's some good resources on popular shoes used by Capoeiristas.  Start Playing Capoeira did a neat article about pros and cons of wearing Capoeira shoes and some advice on popular shoe styles.

Here are some links to popular shoe brands used like Taygra, Feiyue, Zazzal and Vibram Five Fingers.  Also below is a fun link to a study of the effects of shoes on feet and comparison of the Vibram Five Fingers shoe line by Tim Ferriss.

Laboratory studies show that the plantar arch alone returns at least 17 percent of the energy of impact. Running shoes have largely replaced our arches, but they are neither as effective nor as durable. Barefoot runners can clearly do as well as shoed runners, but it takes time to develop the strength in the foot to use our natural arch fully.
